So, I want to really wow the spouse for tomorrow's date night. Sam, as you can see is unimpressed. Hopefully Pete feels differently.
The quick phone shot doesn't do justice to the stockings I'm wearing with this. Favorite Wolfords *ever*.

Today, it is probably easy to guess where we are. Quick phone shot and I have the M9 with me and already have some shots I'm super-pleased with.
Back into JC by noon for lunch with Steve. Tons to write about, but I've been extremely busy.

Aaron and I are both huge Jhonen Vasquez fans so when this came up the other day, I bought a copy immediately. I've been looking for some questionable art to buy Aaron and this was perfect. Now that it has arrived, I realized my mistake was only getting one print... I adore this thing. So, I have actually gone ahead and ordered one for myself. I added a note which said: "Got this for my son and loved it so much I have to get another for myself... he's just gotten too big to knock over and steal from."

Meant to post this the other day. Fellas said best cake I've ever made (!!) and I was super-pleased with it when I tasted the batter. Used a 2:1 ratio of Valrhona to black cocoa in the cake and a light spring olive oil for the fat. For the frosting, I wanted a contrast to the chocolate of the cake so I used bensdorp cocoa in the icing.

Sipping my coffee (with real cream, because why else bother) and surveying the trays to find my favorites for photos. I will have to wait for my hands to uncramp, mind you. I want to do these with the 55 manual macro, but I have no fine motor skills at this very moment.

Pete has an upgrade and so is currently buried in work while Aaron sleeps the sleep of a teen that had been up until all hours. Seemed like a good day to make bagels.

The building with the crane is the Freedom Tower. Personally, I don't like it as I find it doesn't fit the skyline. It's jarring with the glass and being so much taller than the rest

Second pass at the chocolate sour cherry. This time, I was able to track down some unsweetened dried sour cherries instead of canned and it made a *huge* difference. The cherry didn't disappear into the chocolate and the burst of sour in the sweet is rather tasty. The only problem is that this batch was a touch dry as Silverton uses a more hydrated sour than I do. One more pass at testing with a little extra water thrown in and I should have it down so I can feel confident about taking some to Matt.

So I've been thinking a lot today about where I was 10 years ago and reflecting that my carb explosion of a lunch would likely be unseemly if not for the 13 miles I rowed this morning. I'm coming up on 40 this year; in May it will be the anniversary of my decision to be in better shape at 40 than I would be at 30. I should do my long overdue write up soon to mark the occasion. From 24 to 4 is a lot to celebrate.
