Last day. In true Pete style, my husband left for an eye appointment today. I am…not exactly angry. This is a known quantity in my move planning. That man will work so hard on a great many things but when it comes to moving, he does anything and everything to get out of it when he can. The difference being this time he is on his own for certain things. I laid everything out carefully ahead of time to make things go smoothly. I pointed out the garage shelves with his tools and electronics as not being in my wheelhouse. He agreed and now all of those things still need packing. I also spoke about his habits with my move planner and she assured me it wasn’t a problem in the grand scheme of our move. The house is about 95% at this point and I am confident in my work.

Tomorrow morning I will take Pete to the rental agency for a car and then come back to load the cats and head up ahead of the movers. Our amazing neighbor texted Pete last night and is helping us get someone to take care of the driveway. She has also told us that she is bringing us lunch on Friday. I nearly cried over this when Pete told me. I have missed good neighbors and community. Of all the places we’ve lived, Bergen county has been the most hostile and has made us feel so isolated. It will be good to be somewhere where kindness isn’t considered a flaw.
