So this week, we are getting a new fence. This will be followed by some landscaping. We are getting the slate mulch pulled and moving the hydrangeas out of their full sun location. It will also hopefully help with the cadre of untrained dogs that live on the street behind us. I will also be putting something like 170 tulip bulbs in the ground when the slate is gone. We have also been looking at getting a specialty mix of wildflowers so we can start wilding the side of the house and down the incline. Overall, the place is really starting to come together outside. 

The quote for the retaining wall was painful and we will likely bid it out, but all in all, it’s gonna be pricey. It is however, needed and we don’t want the lasts 10 years version so pay, pay, pay it is! That should be the end of the most expensive fixes, we hope. Though I will say, replacing our illegal stove with a properly installed one has been worth it.  It is warming the house better than the previous and also uses less fuel. There’s something kind of nice about coming out to make coffee, hitting a button and having a fire a short time later. No fiddling and hoping the damn thing ignites this time.:)

I still really, really love our new home, costs and all. The location makes it easy for Pete to get to the airport with not a lot of fuss. Pete and I have both noticed when people ask us where we are and say the town name the follow up is almost always “oh! Nice.” It is nice. I did my research very well once we knew where we wanted to go. When I read the Albany subreddit, admittedly the local complaints make me chuckle a bit because the complaints around unfriendly people or bad drivers seem so small compared to where we were. After waiting more than 30 years to buy our home, at least the wait was worth it!

I havent seen one yet myself, not even on all of our "wildlife cams" we have around the house that get all the possums and raccoons etc. but I see folks post pics that could be a coyote or it could be a medium size dog of some mixed heritage. But it's definitely plausible for the area. We've even had a bear or two come into populated areas and have to be caught and taken back out before folks start feeding it and calling it George :)
