We had such a great ride today. Here's the current progress shot of the Freedom Tower. I'm not the biggest fan of the design, truth be told. It simply does not fit with the rest of the buildings around it and makes the skyline a little jarring in my eye.

Is it the construction itself that makes it look like something is wrapped around it?

It's all weird angles rather than being just flat, so that's the glass of that section being slightly off-kilter from the rest of that side.

Really don't care for the look.

Hm. I think the shiny is pretty, but have to agree with your assessment - it doesn't quite fit the skyline. This is New York, right???

Yep, Manhattan, predominantly the financial district. It would be fine in a more modern city, but lower Manhattan is a lot of classic buildings. To me, part of the architecture plan should be to consider the look of what is around you.

I agree. Elsewise it's like you said - jarring. I guess they're making it bigger to be symbolic? But it doesn't quite *fit*.

I think the politicians got so caught up in wanting to make a statement that all other things were tossed aside. Everyone I knows wanted to put them back as is, but with structural improvements. It's a case of politics gone awry... shocking, I know.
