I'm guessing if you can tell that a cat is coming to find you not because you see them or hear meowing, but they are preceded by loud purring, you probably have a happy cat.

Hahaha. I have been drooled on this morning as well. They were very happy that I returned from sunrise photography.
Kate has a purr squeak going as she curls in my lap.
