For some time now, my trench coat has been too big to the point of not really being helpful in the weather. Since I'm inclined to wear it when we go into NYC, when  the wind is bad, I get a breeze up my coat. It wasn't really pressing enough to replace it until recently. Thankfully, Macys had a really great coat sale and I ended up with a gorgeous wool Jones New York coat in a size 6. I actually had a moment of doubt when it arrived because it just looked too small (I'm still doing that a lot, even now) but when I tried it on, it fit like it was made for me. Even the spouse, who never really pays attention to clothing things commented it looked nice and had a great fit. So yay new coat.

Put two and two together last night and realized that Pete's use of the lightbox to wake himself in the morning has really been affecting *my* behaviour lately. My morning routine is pretty much dealing with lunches for both of the guys and coffee for Pete along with small chores that catch my attention. Once they are both gone, I sit with my coffee for a bit, playing a game or some such thing until it is time to row. After all that happens, I kick into gear. With the extra light in the morning, I've recently found myself getting up and then kicking into high gear and the morning has become a whirlwind of activity. I realized that for the past week and a half, I've just been getting up and from 5:15am until dinner, I'm working myself far too hard and leaving no time for myself to read, stitch, do photography things or any of the other things I like to do.

Which brings me to the conversation we had last night. It has been suggested to me that perhaps once a week, I should have someone come in and do the tasks that I don't particularly like to contend with. I don't mind dealing with the house stuff, for the most part but I especially loathe dusting (childhood trauma, you know) and it is tempting to at least think about since we're going to be able to afford it. Then again, my standards on cleaning have been passed down from an insane woman who would make me redo entire rooms if she found the slightest thing wrong so there is the potential that I could make a grown woman cry were things not the way I wanted.;) I dunno how I feel about a stranger coming into my home and doing something I'm perfectly capable of dealing with.

sorry about your mom traumatizing you about cleaning.

I go through phases with Macy's. Goodness knows I wouldn't have looked twice at this coat at full price.

I don't actually speak to my mother any more. It's not worth the abuse. However, I do appreciate that I can turn on that cleaning mode and power through jobs when I need to. ::rueful smile::

I need to get a new coat, myself. I'll have to see if Macy's is still in sale mode.

Adam would never be able to stand having some stranger come in to clean. He hates people touching his stuff. I think it's a holdover from only-childhood.

It's still on and I think even with an extra 20% off now.

Yeah, that's part of why we've never had anyone clean for us. Pete is ok with it but I'm leery about it.

I work so much and my daughter goes to college, so I have a maid service come in to do the bathrooms and the floors and the (Also childhood trauma)dusting once a week. They are bonded and fairly reasonable.

You leave orders with the service they do the bossing and the yelling. be sure you use a bonded service.

Those are precisely the things I'd want done. Love my bathrooms until it comes time to clean them.:) I'm still mulling it over, but I will definitely make sure to go with someone bonded if the spouse can manage to talk me into it.

You've better things to do than clean house. Besides bonded, ask agency to provide you with a copy of workers' comp and liability, too. In litigious times, you can't be too careful.

That's pretty much Pete's argument as to why we should hire someone.:)

Asking about wc and liability is a great idea, thanks!
