Generally speaking, I have been staying away from online. I figure I have enough of my own stress and it has become so ugly to participate socially on the internet. This means I stay away from it for the good things too, sadly. So online friends have fallen by the wayside and I am sorry for that.

Something has coalesced about being in Connecticut for both Pete and I lately....mostly that it really isn't working out. We come to NJ every 2 weeks to shop(vegetables are horrible and meat prices are insane in CT) and we are here this weekend for a car repair as Pete doesn't trust anyone local to us. We simply haven't gelled with the place in the 3+ years we have lived there. After a meal at Gourmet Cafe last night where the staff who knew us were hugging us and telling us how much we've been missed there, it came into focus quickly; it is time to leave Connecticut.

So Pete works with a couple of guys who commute from here. When we first moved, I thought they were nuts to make the commute. I better understand now. Pete is willing to make the drive and thinks if he shifts to going in early and leaving at off peak times, it wouldn't be bad. Wear and tear on Rex would increase but our rent costs would go down, as would the cost of food. There would be places to walk and bike again. We would be all around better positioned and the downsides we experienced when we last lived here wouldn't be prevalent this time as we could afford to do things like take vacations where we couldn't before. No place is perfect, but we truly did like this part of NJ quite a lot while we lived here.

There it is, the epiphany that I never expected; we are NJ folk* and it is time to start looking for the way back.

*damn it...I just got the ability to pronounce "sure" and "shore" differently back again
