Oct. 13th, 2023 11:50 amI think my favorite bit of the last few days is hearing Pete happy about the prospect of this job. When he was so miserable at MS, I kept telling him to start looking. He kept sighing over the idea a job search causes and telling me he didn't want to start over. Being let go was a boon more than anything else given what the job was doing to him.
Work/life balance is going to return to us, his friends keep telling him. Every now and then he might have to do something on off hours, but mostly its not "drinking from the IT firehouse" as he has been describing it lately. Jim, the fellow who wrote the req for Pete describes it as being professional. His future coworkers say similar things. I really want to believe it. Its hard not to think positively about a place that courted him so heavily but I have been burnt by promises before.::eyes Bridgewater::
Once we get out of here and where we want to be, I am going to try to do a bit of a side hustle with my vanilla. There are a couple of really good farmer's markets and my vanilla is pretty awesome. Between milling my own flour and making my own vanilla, my baking is the best it has ever been.:)
For now, it will be back to keeping the house running smoothly (mostly) alone again. Not a big deal mind you but I shall miss my helper. It was funny to see him learn the "work cascade" I have talked about whenever extra projects in the house are taken on.
