Mar. 1st, 2010 06:56 am Even on the weekend, Pete and I find ourselves getting up painfully early. So when Saturday morning came, we were out of bed to go to Wegmans at an absurd hour. Once we were done, we decided to head to the Home Depot in the same plaza, since they open very in order to look at cabinets. The intent was to find something to turn into a cat bathroom area. There are a lot of places that sell such furniture, but for only one box and at a rather silly price. We eyed some cabinets and then decided there was no way we could get them home and left.
Now, when Pete gets something in his mind, it's difficult to get him on a different track. The legacy of being on only child carries with it a stubbornness.;) We ended up looking around and finding something at Lowes. After seeing how busy it was, we decided to take advantage of their free delivery and were going to order what we wanted online. That *was* the plan. A poorly executed web site soon made us change our minds. I thought that was the end of it for the time being.
Both of us ended up being rather tired and we took a rare nap. As it turned out, this made us miss something rather important...
When Sunday morning came, Pete decided he wanted to go back to the first Home Depot to see if we could figure out how to get the cupboards home that we wanted. When we opened the garage door, much to our surprise, a huge box was waiting. It seems that the pachinko machine had been delivered without FedEx bothering to ring the bell and even more, with the place we bought it from not telling us it had shipped! So Pete became resolved to get our cat solution in place. We went back and bought the cupboards and rented the Home Depot van to get things home. As it turned out, they were on clearance *and* all in stock stuff was 20% off so we ended up paying half the price we were going to pay at Lowes.
The rest of our day ended up being working on the bonus room and getting the cupboard modified for it's purpose. At about 6:30, we were finally happy enough with the results to uncrate the game (the design was also a surprise to us) and give it a try. Pizza was ordered and we all ended up being downstairs until nearly 10.
The cupboard doors are going to end up with a crescent moon and star carved in them. The idea was Pete's and he's really looking forward to adding that touch.:)

And as it turns out, I'm really good at pachinko. At one point, Pete was frantically taking my winnings and pouring them back in the hopper so the machine wouldn't have problems. After a bit of this, he begged me to stop playing for a few moments because he couldn't keep up and the noise was making us both half deaf. Ear plugs will be needed until we can install a volume knob.:)
