Graham Cracker

Graham Cracker, originally uploaded by deueltl.

Graham crackers were one of the first things I saw on the Smitten Kitchen site, but I've done many many other recipes from there before these. I've meant to make them, I just didn't have a reason.

Well, that changed when a request for Plush Puffs for Christmas this year was issued. The chocolate chipetta marshmallows kept nagging at my brain. I realized that if I bought a large bag of them and made homemade graham crackers, I could put some s'mores kits together and they'd make for good gifts for friends. Well, I couldn't just have untried graham crackers, could I?:) So today I made them for the first time and the results have me more than pleased. I think this idea will go over quite well.

They look amazing!

did you have to poke all those holes by hand?

::laughing:: Yes, and that part totally sucked. I need to find a way to do it more evenly and that pokes through better. I think I need to get the sort of toothpicks that have a blunt end to make a better hole.

Wow. That really does suck. Are there like, rolling pin attachments or something you can use? Or like...I don't know. all I can think of are those things that plant seeds in the grass at perfect intervals right now, and I don't think that'd do it in the kitchen.

Oh, and a P.S. I think I'm going to send a pack of these to Zan, but don't tell her that.:D
