Pete was up on time today and managed to get out for his preferred train. He teased me a bit as I came down to see him off... first wearing of the new coat I got him and he looks sooooooo good in it. I had accidentally ordered the wrong size... he tends to be a 42 in suits due to his very wide shoulders. Instead I'd ordered a 40 and then agonized when I realized I'd done so. The original plan was to take it to L&T once it arrived for an exchange, but he tried it on for me. While he initially was certain it would never fit, when it settled over his shoulders it looked like it had been made for him.
I realized that his old coat was no longer right.. bought it before BNP and now he walks to his building rather than take the light rail. Given this is along the Hudson river, it's a very cold walk. I queued a bunch of coats for him to look at since it's a great sale time of year. The one he liked best was too short and since he wears a suit on a regular basis, where the pants are thinner even in wool, he wanted to stay with the same length as the previous coat. Everything else he rejected outright so I pulled out the one that I had hoped I wouldn't have to show him since it was a little more than I wanted to spend... he of course loved it. Since our gas bill was a lot lower than expected (Thank you, Nest!) I went with it. Glad I did since as I said it looks *really* nice on him and I just now got a text from him saying that his wait at the 26 degree train station was made a lot more tolerable by it.
Despite my workspace situation, I managed to finish my work on the table, step stool and shelving. I'm especially pleased with the table and Pete raved about the work I'd done on it. I get better every time as it all comes back to me, but I know I could do even better with a real space to do these things in. Screw a sewing room, I want a shop.::G:: Once the light is better in this place, I'll pull out baby Leica for a pic of the table.
I have a lot of introspective things going on too, but you guys are probably sick of my processing and noodling over it.:)
